Senior Network Implementation Technician

The Network Specialist will be responsible for 1) Maintaining a stable network environment.  2) Installing and configuring wireline networks 3) Network design and implementation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent people skills and a high attention to detail. The senior network specialist will be responsible for leading a team of technicians.

Responsibilities:

• Managing staff, scheduling and prepare closing documentation for customers. Work with PMs to keep projects up to date.
• Installation, testing and maintenance of Data centre /Central office /Hub/ Cell site telecommunications equipment and power systems.
• Structured cabling including: Fiber, coaxial, DC power cabling.
• Installation of network servers & switches, routers, transport, BBU and GPS installation.
• Planning, installation, test, commissioning and removal of BDFB’s (Battery Distribution Feeder Bay), DC cabling, DC fuse panel, AC & DC circuit-breaker, liquid cell batteries and power rectifiers.
• Basic commissioning of Ciena, Nokia, Ribbon and Fujitsu equipment. Testing of new circuits for transport operations networks, Fiber Channel, RFC and BERT. OTDR and Fiber Characterization testing.
• Perform live maintenance windows to new or existing equipment during night time hours.

 

Qualifications:

 

• 2+ years field experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude: working with hand tools, power tools. Specialty tools: fiber splicers, Exfo and Viavi test gear.
• General knowledge of equipment in Datacentre/Cable/Cell Site
• Knowledge of ancillary equipment used in telecom installations, including but not limited to cables, connectors, steel work and other consumables that are used on a daily basis.
• Flexible and adaptable. Demonstrate the capability to be able to multi-task and accommodate a variety of assignments at various locations on a day-to-day basis.
• Able and willing to travel as required for varying periods of time, occasionally with short (2-3 days) notice.
• Ability to interpret telecommunication Blueprints, schematics and specifications and able to install equipment as per customer design.
• Interact with customer on-site personnel on job specific activities.

Requirements

 • Ability to read and interpret site plans, engineering and construction drawings
 • Ability to work in a full body harness on rooftops and/or towers.
 • Physical strength and the ability to work in a full body harness on rooftops, with steel, and climbing towers.
 • Valid Working at Heights certificate.

This position will be responsible for securing the knowledge base to effectively install, operate, and maintain DAS Systems. (Distributed Antenna Systems). In addition, the individual will be required to have knowledge in performing site assessments, evaluation of existing electrical telco interface systems. Effectively generate CAD drawings as required. Also able to perform basic RF antenna work.

 • Install and secures cables, mount hardware as described in drawings and notes.

Qualifications
 • At least 3 years of related work experience with in-building DAS systems for Public Safety and Cellular solutions.
 • Knowledge of OUC (office of unified communications) requirements and standards of installation (DC metro specific requirement).
 • Installation experience with at least one of the following OEM systems: JMA Wireless, Westell, Commscope (Andrew), Corning (MobileAccess), ADRF, GST, or Solid in-building.
 • Competency / hands-on experience in utilizing Antrisu for signal propagation and troubleshooting.
 • Familiarity with wireless technologies CDMA, EVDO, GSM, CDMA, UMTS, W-CDMA and LTE.
 • Knowledge of passive repeater-based equipment is preferred, General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is a plus.
 • Perform infrastructure installation for cable trays, racks, cabinets, etc.
 • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Visio, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
 • Ability to install pathways, spaces, bonding, grounding and fire-stopping.

About the Role:
As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for contributing to the Excel’s operational performance by maintaining and improving the commercial properties located in Etobicoke and Vaughan. The Maintenance Technician will be a part of a team that performs a variety tasks to maintain building systems, equipment and physical aspects of the facility.
 
Responsibilities
 • Diligently replying to work orders, work assignments and other work requests in a timely manner
 • Working together with other maintenance staff, management, and contractors as and when required; in a cooperative, efficient and respectful manner to complete assigned work
 • Performing all duties in a safe, diligent, and careful manner; operating with strict compliance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety policies, rules, and requirements for all work performed

 • Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing switches, ballast, wiring, exterior and interior bulbs, installing light fixtures, and troubleshoot problems;
 • Perform minor plumbing repairs such as faucet replacement, urinal and toilet repairs, pipe and drain repairs and troubleshooting malfunctioning plumbing equipment;
 • Snow removal such as cleaning and salting of walkways, pathways and parking lot;
 
Required Qualifications
 • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
 • Minimum of 2 years experience in commercial facility operations, maintenance and repair.
 • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
 • Must be able and willing to work flexible shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs when snowplowing and salting is required
 • Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
 • Must have the ability to use hand tools, lift up to 50 lbs., and work on ladders
 • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics
 • Good communication skills (verbally, written); must be able speak and write fluently in English.

About the Role

The Field Technician position is responsible to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all types of equipment within the company’s fleet at job sites. Repairs shall be made in a safe, cost-effective, and time-efficient manner.
 
Responsibilities
 • General construction, build, maintenance, upgrade of cell sites and telecommunications network infrastructure
 • Experienced with general construction including steel mounts, cabinets, cable tray, conduit, batteries, grounding systems, cable systems
 • Able to follow technical documents, blueprints and engineered drawings
 • Perform all other duties as apparent or assigned by supervision
 • Operation of various types of equipment (e.g. GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, etc.).
 • Completion of field documentation such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring and chain-of-custody forms.
 • Work with project coordinators/managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed in accordance with an established scope of work, and on time and budget.
 • Use AutoCAD, GINT, and Microsoft Excel/Word proficiently to create site plans, borehole logs, reports, etc.
 • Execute tests in the field or laboratory on construction materials to assess their quality.
 • Test plastic concrete on site and cast samples for lab testing.
 • Assist in conducting asphalt & concrete coring for thickness and material composition investigations.
Qualifications
 • 2+ years of experience working on industrial/construction equipment.
 • Telecommunications and Wireless experience preferred
 • Experienced and competent in servicing a wide range of heavy duty rental equipment
 • Valid drivers license and clean abstract required
 • Comply with established company safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines; and be responsible for reporting unsafe practices to your supervisor.
 • Basic knowledge of electrical safety
 • Must be able to perform minor and major repairs on all types of equipment, including Asphalt and Construction equipment

As and RF/Microwave Technician you will be part of a production team responsible for the tuning and testing of RF amplifiers and sub-assemblies used in satellite communications systems.  • You will need at least three years of RF and/or electronics test and production experience, with demonstrated knowledge of microwave theory and practice.
 • Familiarity with microwave test equipment and laboratory protocols for handling sensitive components.

 • Attend preconstruction walks when required
 • Provide leadership and guidance to promote learning and furthering of junior crew memberskills and abilities.
 • Work with foreman to analyze project requirements with respect to labour and materials
 • Ensure foreman is apprised of construction progress, concerns, deviation from plans or schedule
 • Assist foreman in ensuring quality control or work
 • Preparing rigging equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts.
 • Communication Tower and Cell Site installation and routine maintenance
 • Installation and testing of telecommunication equipment (cellular antennas, microwave antennas, transmission lines and connectors).
 • Antenna modifications and additions
 • Perform tests to locate transmission faults and repair or replace defective equipment on the tower
 • Performing general ground procedures and activities required for the construction of sites
 • Maintain tools, company vehicles, equipment and inventory.
 • Identify safe working conditions and take a proactive approach to maintaining them
 • Scheduling, resource management, health & safety, material management, and driving overall successful project completion
 • Performing all duties in a safe, diligent, and careful manner; operating with strict compliance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety policies, rules, and requirements for all work performed
 
Qualifications
 • Minimum 3 years of Aerial tower climbing, rigging, and rappelling experience is required
 • Valid Ontario Driver’s license with a clean abstract and a reliable vehicle is required
 • Experience with general wireless construction including installation of equipment, steel mounts, cabinets, cable tray, conduit, microwave, power equipment, batteries, and grounding systems.
 • Experience with cable systems including fibre optic, data, copper, and power
 • Canadian or international experience with wireless carriers and major equipment vendors including Ericsson, Nokia, Bell, Rogers, Telus, Huawei.
 • Ability to read and interpret site plans, engineering and construction drawings
 • Ability to work in a full body harness on rooftops and/or towers.
 • Physical strength and the ability to work in a full body harness on rooftops, with steel, and climbing towers.
 • Valid Working at Heights certificate.
 • Fall arrest and protection certification
 
Success in the Role
 • Telecom troubleshooting experience preferred
 • Possess strong industry related skills, rigging, steel erection, line installation, antenna and microware installation
 • Ability to interpret engineered drawings and knowledge of fibre and DC Drawings
 • Good physical condition and comfortable working at heights
 • Mechanically inclined
 • Reliable and trustworthy with a positive attitude
 • Valid Driver`s license, willing to travel
 
Work Environment
 • Regular hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm or 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, however some flexibility is required
 • Year-round, hands-on work on rooftop cell sites and towers
 • Work outside, at heights or in confined spaces
 • Heavy lifting, manual work and proficient use of installation tools
 • Work with a team of 3-5 technicians on a range of projects including site build, maintenance, upgrade, and decommission
 • All extra Covid PPEs provided, maintaining distance on job sites

About the Role
 Excel Group is looking for a skilled Construction Carpenter to join our team.
Responsibilities
 • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
 • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
 • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
 • Build, maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures in different establishments
 • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
 • Supervise the apprentices and other workers;
 • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
 
Qualifications
 • Valid Working at Heights training and comfortable working at heights is a must.
 • A full clean driver license and abstract.
